About

Simonside Outdoor Adventure

We deliver a range of land and water based activities usually from one of our three centres.  With lots of activities to try, we do our best to give you the best service we can.  We pride ourselves on high standard's of instruction, well maintained clothing, equipment and facilities that are accessible for all.
We only use experienced and well qualified staff who have a passion for what they do.  Our work is not just work but our hobby as well; so you'll be motivated and enthused throughout.  We are part of South Tyneside Outdoor Education Service which also incorporates our Cumbria centre on the shores of Coniston Water, Thurston OEC.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact whilst at the same time increasing the impact that we have with you.  Our 3 centres have a reduced carbon footprint by harnessing the power of the sun.  All 3 sites have PV Solar Cells which provide the vast majority of our energy consumption.  We have planted a wide range of broad leaf trees in our grounds in our Kielder site which have increased the biodiversity by attracting a greater range of insect, mammal and bird life.

Health & Safety

All activities that take place are inclusive of instruction, appropriate number of qualified staff for the specified activity, equipment, transport, full risk assessment and facilities.

We hold an Adventurous Activities Licensing Service license (L10277/R0815),  Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (LOtC) and a AAIAC Adventuremark which allows us to deliver a range of activities and these quality standards, show our committment to continued development of our clients through adventurous activities and outdoor education.  We are also a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre. We sometimes use freelance instructors to compliment our team.  All are appropriately qualified, skilled and experienced.  They go through the same checks that our full time employee's do to ensure safety and to fall in line with South Tyneside Council guidelines.
